Substituting or replacing a toxic material with a harmless one is a practical way of eliminating an industrial health hazard. A change in process offers an ideal chance to improve working conditions as well as quality and production. Industrial ventilation is one type of process modification, or engineering control, that has proven to effectively prevent health hazards from airborne materials. There are two types of ventilation available: local ventilation removing the air contaminants near the source, and general ventilation, also known as dilution ventilation, removing and adding air to dilute the concentration of a contaminant to below hazardous levels.
The Air Compliance Group, LLC recognizes that not all industrial ventilation systems are foolproof. All too often, manufacturing processes change or the materials used are substituted for other materials, requiring a modification of the ventilation system. Also, a well designed system develops problems as time goes on. Therefore, ventilation systems should be evaluated periodically to ensure that they are effectively reducing respirable health hazards for workers.
In cases where new materials and/or processes are introduced to a facility, The Air Compliance Group, LLC is able to assist their clients in ensuring that the proper ventilation system is installed, whereby reducing potential health hazards. The Air Compliance Group, LLC performs an assessment of the potential airborne exposures to the hazardous materials being used, including personnel exposure monitoring and measurements of airborne concentrations in the space, to determine the appropriate type of ventilation for the process. After a properly designed and installed ventilation system is in place, The Air Compliance Group, LLC is able to provide additional samples to ensure the system is working properly.
